STACK Infrastructure successfully migrates Japan Tobacco International’s (JTI) live production data center
Overview
Pursuant to announcement on July 1, 2022, this case study has been updated from the previously branded “Safe Host” to “STACK Infrastructure,” “STACK,” or “STACK EMEA – Switzerland” to reflect the current branding.
JTI turned to STACK Infrastructure to migrate and house its entire network in Geneva, Switzerland. More than 200,000 gigabytes of storage, 1,000 disks, and 300 servers were moved seamlessly with no impact on the company’s operations.

Setting the Scene
Over the course of several days, STACK coordinated with specialists to transfer JTI’s entire network, including more than 300 servers, tape libraries, storage devices, and communications equipment, to the GEN01 facility. In addition to anticipating and planning for potential critical issues, STACK was challenged with ensuring that JTI’s IT operations suffered no impact, all while coordinating with multiple stakeholders. “The STACK transition service and the teams involved delivered excellence,” said Guilain Rogg, Vice President – IT Global Technical Center, JTI. “It was like changing the chassis on a car whilst it was still moving.”
